Cheek Augmentation

As we age we start to lose the fullness in the face , especially around the cheek area. Thankfully there are a number of treatments to bring back the fullness to the cheeks and create a more youthful looking face.

Why cheek augmentation?

As we age we start to lose the fullness in the face , especially around the cheek area. This can make us look older and in some cases rather “ gaunt”.

Thankfully there are a number of treatments to bring back the fullness to the cheeks and create a more youthful looking face.

We like Sculptra for this purpose. Sculptra can not only bring fullness back to the cheeks but it can help highlight cheekbones and create real definition.

If you have just lost facial volume because of age or perhaps through illness, then Sculptra could be worth considering.

Sculptra was approved by the FDA in 2004

How is it performed?

Sculptra is performed on an out patient basis. It’s a fairly quick treatment too taking around half an hour.

Topical anaesthetic cream is used prior to treatment to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

After the Sculptra has been injected the Practitioner will massage the area to ensure even distribution of the material.

Improvement in cheek volume will emerge at around six weeks.

At your initial consultation you will be advised as to how many treatments are going to be needed to achieve the results, in most cases this is around three, and these are spaced around one month apart.

How much does it cost?

The cost depends on the number of sessions required. Your Practitioner  will be able to give you a clear indication at your consultation. Prices start from £495.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid , a synthetic gel comprised of the same lactic acid that occurs naturally in the body. This synthetic gel is used in suture material and has an excellent safety record.

When Sculptra is injected into the cheeks it starts to stimulate collagen growth. Results don’t appear straight away, new collagen is stimulated gradually over time. Many patients like this idea as the change then is not so dramatic overnight.

One significant advantage of Sculptra is that it is long lasting.

Over time Sculptra will dissolve and repeat treatments will be required to keep the same improvement. On average patients return for top up treatments at at around two years.

How will I feel after treatment?

Expect some bruising and swelling immediately after treatment. This can last up to two weeks, but for most patients this is minimal. The treated are will also be a little red at first.
After treatment you should avoid strong sunlight and uv sun lamps until any  bruising and swelling has subsided.
